Woodlands, the old favourite that keeps earning it

Comfort food done properly, the kind of place that becomes part of your story.

Some places you review. Others you just keep going back to, and one day you realise you never wrote them up because they’d stopped feeling like a “spot” and started feeling like yours. The Woodlands Eatery is that one for me.

It’s a small room in Gardens that does comfort food properly, wood-fired pizza with a proper char on the base, pasta that tastes like someone in the kitchen actually cares, and a house red you don’t have to think too hard about. Nothing here is trying to reinvent dinner. It’s just done well, warmly, and without fuss.

The move is a Winter Wednesday: 50% off all pastas, a window seat if you can get one, and no particular reason to rush home. It’s the kind of ordinary-good evening that ends up in your stories more often than the fancy ones do.

If you’re planning a first date, a catch-up, or a quiet Tuesday that you don’t want to cook for, this is a safe, lovely yes.
